Growing hurts and it's very painful. Sometimes, you are going through a storm, and you do break. But you aren't broken. Some times you stay the same for a very long time. Not good, not bad, just the same. And sometimes you flourish, and you usually flourish, after a good hard rain. This is such a good thing.

Living your Blessed Life
By: Jennifer Hayes
For the class of 2019.
“Ask not what your
country can do for you. Ask, what you can do for your country.” ~ President
John F. Kennedy ~ January 20, 1961
All you ever hear these
days is people yapping on and on about their rights. Have you noticed this? Not
only that, everybody is offended all the time about absolutely everything. They
are offended, and their feelings are hurt. Oh my gosh, their precious freaking
feelings are hurt. All the time with their stupid feelings. “I’m offended! I’m
disenfranchised! I have a right to this! I have a right to that!” Holy cow
people! It’s going to be a long life if you all keep this up. The media keeps
trying to blame this on the young people, but, everybody is guilty of doing
this these days. I’ve been hearing this from people of all ages, across the
board. “It’s not fair! It’s not fair! Oh, dear God in heaven, It’s just not
fair!”
Well, I have news for
everyone who is so upset about life in America right now. Life is not fair.
Never has been, and never will be. Life is not fair and, you have no rights.
That’s right, I said it, you have no rights. No rights whatsoever. So, stop
going on and on about your rights and feelings and privileges, because you
don’t have them. What you do have is responsibilities. Lots and lots of
responsibilities. So, check your privilege kids.
That’s right everybody,
you have responsibilities and that is it. You have responsibility, first and
foremost, to yourself. You are responsible to your body and your mind. Be
carefully of the things you allow into your body and be especially careful what
you allow into your mind. Keep your thoughts and feelings in check. Don’t let
them runaway with you. Keep control of them, don’t let them control you.
You are also responsible
for finding a good use and purpose for your talents and abilities. No body
gives you a job, you go out there and get one. You earn a living, because you
earn your life. In fact, everything in life is earned. EVERYTHING! Right down
to your reputation, your relationships, your home, your financial situation and
your romantic relationships. Everything in life is earned. Somethings come with
a great cost to you, and somethings, are bought with a great and heavy price. It
doesn’t mean a thing if you didn’t earn it. Nothing is free. Nothing has ever
been free. Even Freedom comes with a cost and a price.
Stop being so jealous,
afraid and angry all the time. Seriously people, check your privilege. Besides,
what good is being angry if you aren’t going to do something about it. Yes, the
world is full of troubles and problems. However, when all you do is bitch and
moan about them, nothing can get any better. People are very good at pointing
out all of the problems and all of the troubles, but when was the last time you
actually saw somebody doing anything about it? Roll up your sleeves and try to
fix things, or, shut the hell up. It is very easy to bitch and moan and
complain, it’s a lot harder to try to solve the problem. Over the past 20
years, it seems to me, people have given up on themselves. When did everybody
stop believing in themselves? When did we all decide that life is too hard, and
dreams don’t come true anymore? People give up before they have even stepped up
to the plate. This needs to change.
You can do anything you
want to do, within reason of course. If you want to have something or do
something, you can do it. You just need to make a plan, work really hard, and,
believe in yourself. When did people stop doing this? Well, because it’s too
hard. Well, yes, life is hard, but it’s not impossible. This living your best
life thing is not for the faint of heart. Be really brave and take a chance. I
know it’s scary, because, your dreams might not come true. But, even if your
dream doesn’t come true, it will take you some place, and usually, it is a
better place than where you started out. Quit being a bunch of pussies and take
a chance once in a while. You will never regret it.
Some people go around,
all day long, complaining about rights and privileges and money and being
jealous of everyone who has more than they do. This is such a waste of time and
energy. Nobody has any rights, money is a tool and a necessity, and, we are all
privileged to be alive and well and living in the United States of America. We
are blessed beyond measure. The sooner we all realize this, the better off we
are all going to be.
Just remember this, you
are a child of God, and your daddy is well off. So, stop complaining. Stop
looking at life in such a negative way. Because, life is wonderful, and
glorious and magnificent. It is also very painful, lonely, hard, it is going to
hurt, and, you don’t get out of it alive. But, it’s worth every tear you ever
shed and every bad experience you ever have. But, you have to work for it.
Because, everything in life is earned. EVERYTHING. And, in the end, your life
is your responsibility. It’s not my life my choice, it’s my life my
responsibility. You owe it to yourself, and everyone else, to do and give your
very best in all things and in all ways. You have no right to disrespect
yourself or anyone else. You are earning a life. Get out there and be a
blessing.

When I practice yoga everyday; an open letter to my yoga mat
When I practice yoga everyday, my life runs much better. It isn't all hearts and flowers and sunshine all of the time, that wouldn't be healthy or realistic. However, life is much, much, better when I practice yoga everyday. But I have to do it everyday.
When I practice yoga everyday, my life runs much better. I have more energy and more clarity. I am not so easily annoyed or made angry by silly little things. I am much more lighthearted and I have a sharper wit. I'm not so easily stressed out about little things and, I find, I have a better healthier perspective on life. But, I have to do it everyday.
When I get up and out of bed between 6:00am and 9:00am my life runs much better. I find I am more productive and make better use of my time. I get a whole lot more accomplished. I make better use of my time. And, I find I enjoy the work I need to do, the plans I need to make, and all of the other things I have to do that simply must get done a whole lot more. When I get up early in the morning and commit to the plans I have made and the goals I have set, I find I receive a great deal more joy out of life and I find living to be a lot more rewarding. But I have to do it everyday.
When I commit to working out for at least 15-20 minutes everyday, my life runs much better. I have a lot more energy. I find, I am not so prone to being lazy and making excuses to get out of doing the things I really need to finish, accomplish or get started on. I am also; boosting my immune system, increasing my heart rate with exercise, instead of stress, and, I am building my metabolism, my immune and bodily systems and my physical endurance to promote my longevity. I also give myself a better experience living my life. But, I have to do it everyday.
When I attend a yoga class or any other kind of group exercise class, at least 3 times a week, my life runs much better. Going to class gives me the chance to learn something new from someone else. It also gives me a chance to make new friends and broaden my social horizons. But I have to do it at least 3 times a week.
When I commit to learning how to cook and eating only healthy foods everyday day, my life runs much better. When I eat only healthy foods, it is better for my body and my mind. When I cook the food myself, I make a connection with the food I am eating. When I cook the food I am going to eat, I am creating an experience between myself and the food I eat. When I learn about the food I eat and it's impact on my body, I make better life choices for myself. But, I have to do this everyday.
When I commit to a final 15-20 minute yoga practice every night before I go to bed, my life runs much better. When I practice for 15-20 minutes every night, it helps me to establish a nightly routine, which is very important in a persons life, and hard to do in today's world. So, I have to do it every night.
When I go to bed between 10:00pm and 12:00 Midnight, my life runs much better. I get a better nights sleep that I have truly earned, and, I get a better night's sleep when I take the time to have a going to bed routine like having a cup of tea and reading a book in bed before I go to sleep. But, I have to do this every night.
When I practice yoga first thing in the morning everyday, my life runs much better. Practicing yoga, first thing every morning is a great routine to start my day off with. But, I have to do it everyday.

Just Breathe
One of the first principles focused on in a personal yoga practice is to just breathe. It seems so easy. We do it all the time in order to stay alive. It's easy to just breathe when everything is going nice and easy. Not so easy to just breathe when the pressure is on. As we begin in our own personal yoga journey, it is very important to be patient with ourselves and just breathe. When the pressures on, just breathe.
